Obituaries

Florence Isabel Weltz, of Ayton, passed away peacefully at Rockwood Terrace, Durham on Tuesday, October 18, 2022.  She was 76. 

Born on November 7, 1945 in Bentinck Township to the late Valentine and Caroline (nee Weidendorf) Kaufman. Florence had a warm personality and was well liked wherever she went. She easily made friends - often lifelong friendships especially with her many close cousins.  In her early adult life, she worked as a waitress at Norm’s Restaurant and then worked for the Royal Bank as a teller before becoming a mother of 5. (A full-time job as well).  While raising her family and farming with Ray, cats would “suddenly” appear on the property, she took to caring for them like second nature. She was fond of journaling and writing letters to her many friends.  She will be remembered as a Sunday School Teacher for many years at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ayton. Florence had a huge heart and was always quick to be generous to support any charity or cause especially related to her grandchildren. She will be missed by many. 

Survived by her dear husband Raymond Weltz of Ayton. Loved mother of Ann Weltz MacPherson (Andrew) MacPherson of Ayton, Sheryl (Steve) Smith of Nanaimo British Columbia, Joan (Mike) Roth of Dundalk, Judy Weltz of Ayton and Steve (Jennifer) Weltz of Ayton. Cherished and adored Grandma of Emma, Hanna, Emmitt, Alicia, Audrey and Kaitlyn. Fondly remembered by her siblings Ruth Wolfe, John Kaufman both of Hanover, Edwin Kaufman of Elmwood and sister-in-law Mary Kaufman of Elmwood as well as her lifelong friend Sharon McDonald.   She will be missed by her husband’s family as well.  Howard (Marlene) Weltz of Durham and Betty (Bob) Watson of Upper Varney as well as nieces, nephews and their families. Predeceased by her Grandson Owen MacPherson and brothers Jim Kaufman and Ivan Kaufman. 

Family and friends are invited to a Graveside Memorial Service held on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at 11:00 am, at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Ayton. All are welcome and feel free to bring a lawn chair. Rev. Pam McNeil officiating. Cremation with interment in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Ayton.
