She rose in ranks to Leading Aircraft Woman. In 1945 as the war ended, she transferred into the CWAC as a band member, was stationed in Kitchener until they departed on the Ile de France with about 600 other passengers, for Europe, to entertain the troops as they readied to come home. They travelled to Apeldoorn Holland, England, France, Belgium and Germany over a 6-month period, playing for troops in each country. When they sailed home on the same ship, there were 6,000 passengers, as they brought troops home. She was discharged in 1946, as a Private 1st Class. In 1981, they sold their dairy herd, moved into a home in Paisley, and continued a long enjoyable life. She spent decades as a member of the ACW, Bradley women’s Institute, Paisley Legion auxiliary, the Agricultural society and Fair board. She loved to knit, quilt, do crosswords, puzzles, crafts, & play euchre.
