Maurice "Morris” Schuknecht, of Hanover passed away peacefully with his family by his side at Lee Manor Nursing Home in Owen Sound on Friday, November 22, 2024. He was 93.
Born on October 31, 1931 to the late Henry and Hannah (nee Woods) Schuknecht. Morris worked for 30 years, hauling lumber and logs for Knechtel Furniture. He loved being behind the wheel of his log truck or in the bush, and it was an extra special day when one of his children would join him in the truck. Morris had a great love of country music and playing the guitar. It was always a wonderful time when friends or family would drop by, and guitars would come out, and the signing would go on well into the night. He passed his love of music on to his son Jason who will continue to play on in Morris' absence. He was a faithful servant of God and spent many hours serving his church, St. Matthew's Lutheran. Morris was a kind, gentle, and patient soul who greeted everyone with a cheerful smile and an excited handshake. His love for his family and furry friends was unwavering and he will live on in our hearts forever.
Survived by loving and devoted wife Myrtle "Birdie" (nee McArthur) Schuknecht of Hanover. Dear father of Darlene (Wes) Robson of Durham and Jason (Linda) Schuknecht of Hanover. Special grandfather of Leanne (Shawn) Edwards, Doug Robson (Jen Schwass), Susan (Mark) Kreager and Joshua and Lukas Schuknecht. Great grandfather of Owen and Cameron Edwards, Hannah and Wesley Kreager and Charlie Robson. Fondly remembered by his siblings Kathleen Hamel, Doug Schuknecht , Art Schuknecht, Phyllis (Ronnie) Spitzig, Sharon Rands and Gwen (Reg) Rands. Remembered by his sister in law Rita Schuknecht and his many nieces, nephews and their children.
