Mary Ernesta (Hafermehl) Beggs of Mildmay passed away peacefully at the Fordwich Village Nursing home, on Thursday, April 17th, 2025, in her 90th year.  She was born February 10th, 1936, and was the 2nd sibling of eight.

Loving mother of Rick (Diane) of Walkerton, Cathy (Ed) Currie of Woodstock, Randy (Sharon) of Parkhill, Laurie (Tom) Soers of Mildmay, Ross (Connie) of Kitchener, Tim (Karen) of RR#5 Mildmay.

Fondly remembered by her 17 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren, her sister Dorothy (Lenard) Karl, brother Dave (Pauline) Hafermehl, and sister, Lucille Pfeifer.

Predeceased by her husband Jack (2017), her teenage son Dwayne (1979), siblings Harvey Hafermehl, Lloyd Hafermehl, Phyllis Kreller & Marjorie Turner, and her parents Albert and Cecilia Hafermehl.

Mary and Jack were married June 2nd, 1956 and over the next several years their family grew to seven children.  She became a 'Mom' to all the neighbourhood kids and all of the friends of her children.  She always welcomed anyone to her table, no matter what the meal time, or how busy she was.  She was an avid sewer, great baker of bread, buns, pies & cookies, and enjoyed gardening and knitting.  She loved family get-togethers and enjoyed preparing a big spread for every holiday.  She belonged to the CWL for many years and remained a devout catholic.

Becoming a grandma of seventeen was a highlight of her life and she couldn't get enough of their sloppy kisses and all the silliness they created with each visit.  They all loved going to her house for sleepovers and treats anytime they could, especially if it involved a camping trip.

Visitation will be held at Greg Roberts Funeral Home Mildmay on Tuesday April 22nd from 4:00 to 7:00 pm.  

A funeral mass honouring Mary's life will be held at the Sacred Heart Mildmay Church on Wednesday April 23rd at 11:00 am.  Private family interment in Sacred Heart cemetery Mildmay.
