Doris Evelyn Baynton – Of  Mildmay.  Our family has lost a wonderful woman.  Evelyn, as she was known to those who didn’t call her mom, grandma or great grandma, passed away quietly in her sleep on Sunday, January 14th, 2018.  Evelyn celebrated her 90th birthday just last year and was looking forward to her 91st in May.  She will be joining her husband, Ted (Edgar Thomas Baynton), in a better place.  That reunion will include Evelyn’s parents, 2 sisters and a brother.  Evelyn was a woman involved in her community in a number of ways, including minor sports and her church over the years.  She enjoyed travelling and her card- playing friends.  And she was always up for a road trip – especially if it involved a meal.  Evelyn’s ever-expanding family of about 40 adults and children jammed into her Mildmay home every Boxing Day for one of the highlites of her year – the annual Baynton family Christmas.  All of us who made it to that recent event are grateful for that one last time with her.  Evelyn is survived by her children; Ray (Lois) Baynton of Wingham, Carol (Bill) Allen of Walkerton and Donna (Chuck) Durrer of Mildmay - 12 grandchildren – 24 great-grandchildren – her brothers Earl Wright & Wynne (Hermie) Wright  all of Guelph; her sister in laws Ann Wright of Meaford, Arleen Baynton of Halton Hills & Mary Baynton of Waterdown.  Visitation at the Greg Roberts Funeral Home, Mildmay on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.  Funeral service will be conducted by Rev. Ralph Schmidt in St. Paul’s United Church, Mildmay on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at 11 a.m.  Interment in St. Paul’s United Church Cemetery, Mildmay.  Donations may be made to the St. Paul’s Cemetery Fund.
