Ray Edward Stanley of Hanover, formerly of Kinloss, passed at Kincardine hospital on Thursday, March 15, 2018. He was 82 years old and leaves a legacy of family, friends and community.  Ray purchased his first Ford dump truck in 1959.  Over the years, Blackhorse Sand and Gravel expanded to include loaders and a crusher. In the winters he used his trucks for plowing and sanding roads.

Ray and his wife of 62 years, Helen (nee Nicholson), raised six daughters: Barbara (Aaron) Bittorf of Ingersoll, Janice (Gary) Richardson of Hanover, Valerie (Dane) Found of California, Heather (Larry) Christie of Tara, Julie Stanley of Owen Sound, and Jennifer Stanley of Toronto.  Memories of buckaroos and sweet treats are shared by grandchildren Mark and Sarah Bittorf, Nicole and Ashley Richardson, Raymond (Kelly) Found and Katelyn (Deric) Williams, Laurissa and Loral Christie, and great grandchildren Addilyn, Cole and Nathan.

Born May 4, 1935 in Kinloss Township to the late Albert and Eva Stanley, Ray was the second of four children. He is survived by sisters Vivian Eizenga and Lyla Johnston, both of London, and brother Delbert of Wingham; predeceased by brothers-in-law Al Eizenga and Fred Johnston, adoptive sister Dorothy and her husband Harry Guest.

Ray also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbours and friends from across southern Ontario and western Canada.

Visitation at Mighton Funeral Home in Hanover on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.; funeral service at Grace United Church in Hanover on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at 1 p.m.  Spring interment Durham Road Baptist Cemetery, Greenock.
