Obituaries

                     

Rosemary Barbara Murphy, of Hanover, passed away peacefully at The Village Seniors Community Centre on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at the age of 92. 

Born in Normanby at the Scoles family farm on December 3, 1930 to the late William and Mildred (nee Helm).  Rosemary married John Murphy on August 15th, 1953 at St. Peter's Church in Ayton and recently celebrated their love and devotion to each other throughout their 70 years of marriage.  Family, farming and neighbors was the center of the life she shared with John.  Together they were an active part of the community in Ayton for many years prior to moving to Hanover.  Above all, Rosemary loved her family and was so proud of her 6 children and 12 grandchildren.  She was forever dedicated to ensuring everyone felt included in family gatherings and celebrations.  Home cooked meals for family and friends were always a cherished event.  She created a home of warmth and love that was steadfast.  Her smile, chocolate chip cookies and Christmas Gum Drop cake were a comfort to all.  

Survived by loving husband John Murphy of Hanover. Loved mother of Michael (Ursula) Murphy of Saugeen Shores, Jim (Joanne) Murphy of Walkerton, MaryLou (Gord) Archer of Orangeville, Helen (Keith) Elliott of Newmarket and Kathy (David) Ermel of Hanover. Adored by her grandchildren Katie, Siobhan, Kevin, Reaghen (Dave), Alison, Evan, Emily, Madison, Liam, Sean, Makenzie and Kyle. Predeceased by her son Daniel Murphy and his wife Sonia, her parents William and Mildred Scoles, brother Father James Scoles and sister Joan Horrigan. 

Family and friends are invited to visitation held at Holy Family Church, Hanover on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at 10:00 am, Eulogy will commence at 10:50 am  and Funeral Mass officiated by Father Romalito Guillen at 11:00 am.  A short reception will be held at the back of the church directly following the mass.  Internment at St. Peter’s Cemetery, Ayton at 1:30 pm.  For those unable to attend the service, it will be livestreamed on the church's website (www.holyfamily.ca).
