Obituaries

Celima Margaret Mary Swailes, of Hanover, passed away at Hanover and District Hospital, on Sunday, October 29, 2023 in her 80th year. 

Born in Midland, daughter of the late Andrew and Margaret (Vallee) Pelletier.  Many will remember Celima and her friendly smile during her many years working at McDonald’s in Owen Sound and Hanover, and at the local grocery store, Hank's Food Basket in Hanover. Celima was always very involved in her community and church in many ways, and she was always generous with her spare time.  She was involved in the CWL, the Hanover Legion and the Legion Ladies Auxiliary, and the Hanover Hospital Auxiliary. 

Beloved wife of Ross Miller. Loving mother of Chris (Tara) Swailes of Orillia, Greg (Rachel) Swailes of Owen Sound, Scott Swailes of Ottawa, Teresa (Kevin) Hillyer of Brampton, and step sons Jeff (Diane) Miller of Kitchener and Rodney (Kim) Miller of New Hamburg. Special grandmother of Emily, Mikala, Victoria, Thomas, Zachary, Cameron, Ron, and Jason, and great grandmother of Robert, Isabella, and Isabelle. Loved by her sister Marie Marshall of Victoria Harbour, and sisters-in-law Doreen (John) Vinson of Elmvale, Verna Baker of Owen Sound, and Linda (Doug) Jackman of Owen Sound. Fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews and their families. Predeceased by her parents, grandson Joshua Swailes, granddaughter Kimberly Imeson, and brother-in-law Brian Marshall. 

A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, November 3, 2023, at 10:30 am, at Holy Family Church, Hanover, followed by a Celebration of Life at the Hanover Legion from 12 noon until 2 pm. Interment in Hanover Cemetery.
