James  "Jim" Shields, of Walkerton, passed away suddenly at his home in Walkerton on Tuesday, December 26, 2023.  He was 62.

Born in Toronto on March 8, 1961 to the late John and Molly Ann (nee Wilkin) Shields. Jim enjoyed working with the Municipality of Brockton as a Custodial Maintenance Worker for the last 38 years. Many will also know Jim from his days at TJ's Party Patrol as well as the Walkerton Sub Shop. He was a dedicated Fire Fighter with the Walkerton Fire Department and was even awarded the prestigeous Harvey Gunnis Award for the most Dedicated Firefighter. He was deeply respected by all his colleagues and will be missed immensely. He always had a good time and could put a smile on your face. He was a proud "Newfie" and was always up to share in a story (or two) along with the occasional beverage.

Survived by children Michael Shields (Lorraine Danton) of Elmwood, Steven Shields of Durham, and Kayla (Cody) Andersen of Elmwood. Proud Grandpa Jim of Nevaeh, Michael, Audrina, Hailey, Kasey and Maddy. Dear brother of Carol Verdonk of Paisley, Flora (John) Becker of Owen Sound, Dan (Brenda) Shields of Walkerton and Jackie Shields of Hanover. Jim was a great uncle and will be missed by his many nieces, nephews and their families. Predeceased by his parents, step mom Ruth, brother Thomas in infancy and by his brother in law Herman Verdonk.

Family and friends are invited to visitation held at Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover, on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 from 2-4 & 6-8pm. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Cremation with inurnment at a later date.
