Frederick Albert Gilbert "Gib" Gristey, of RR#1 Elmwood, passed away peacefully after complications from an ATV accident in October,  surrounded by his loving wife and sister in law at Victoria Hospital in London on Monday, January 15, 2024. He was 53.

Born in Burlington, Ontario on March 21, 1970 to the late Frederick and Jessie (nee Armstrong) Gristey. Many will best know him as Gib.. he had a warm smile (almost a smirk) as if to say "Let’s make life interesting" He had a great sense of humor and loved to be around family and friends. Gib enjoyed his trips up north and was looking forward to retiring up there for good fishing and hunting. When you met Gib you would never forget him. He had a thousand friends and could always be counted on to help out any way he could.

Survived by devoted wife Susan (nee Spielmacher) of RR#1 Elmwood. Loved father of Joanne Gristey, Freddy Gristey and Jennifer Gristey (Kieran) all at home. He was adored by his grandpuppy "Sammy", who was always  hanging out in the shop and begging for treats. Dear brother of Susie (John) Kuz of Paris, ON , Herb (J.L.) Gristey of Elmwood and Georgette (Greg) Thomas of Mildmay and by his brother in law Clint (Marg) MacQuarrie of South River. Gib will be missed by Susan's siblings John (Carol) Spielmacher of Hanover, Jim (Kathy) Spielmacher of Mildmay and Laurie (Dean) Gade of Deemerton as well as his nieces, nephews and their families. Predeceased by his parents, by his sister Heather MacQuarrie and brother in law Jeff Spielmacher.

To honour his wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration "Gib's style" will be held later in the spring.

Memorial donations to the Saugeen Hospice would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover.  Condolences may be sent to the family at www.mightonfuneralhome.ca
