Obituaries

Loretta Susanna Montag, of Hanover, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, October 5, 2023. She was 84.  

Born on August 26, 1939 to Leo and Gertrude (nee Kupferschmidt) Grubb. Loretta was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.  She enjoyed farm life, and working in her garden.  She quite enjoyed dancing, and playing cards (especially solo).   She was a dedicated, faithful member of Holy Family Church and was involved with the CWL. 

Survived by children Leo (Lorraine) Montag of Ayton, Loretta Montag of Melbourne, Ontario, Nancy (Wilfried) Boerkamp of Chesley, Michele (Dave) Bowering of Ilderton, Tammy Weller (Mark Pegelo) and Randy Montag (Pamela Gold) both of Hanover. She was dearly loved by her 28 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Remembered by her siblings Joe (Bonnie) Grubb, Isabelle (John) Gannon, Harley Grubb, Philip Grubb and her sisters in law Sharon Grubb, Belle Grubb and her brother in law Harold (Trudy) Carter as well as many nieces, nephews and their families. 

Predeceased by her parents, her beloved husband Leo Montag (2022), daughter Cynthia Montag, grandchildren Jacquelyn Doupe, Laura Montag, and great granddaughter Julie Montag and siblings Angie (Donald) Diemert, Hilda (George) Elder, Billy Grubb, Bob Grubb, Ray Grubb, Jim (Linda) Grubb, Johnny (Dale) Grubb and Barb Carter. 

Family and friends are invited to Visitation held at Holy Family Church, Hanover on Friday, October 13, 2023 from 9:30-10:45am where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11am. Father Romalito Guillen officiating. Interment in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Carlsruhe.
