Obituaries

Alberta Kathleen 'Kaye' Macdonald, of Wiarton, passed away at Gateway Haven LTC in Wiarton, Ontario, on February 26, 2024, in her 97th year. 

Born in Berkley, Ontario, on May 24, 1927 to the late George and Mabel (nee Summers) Whitney. Kaye spent much of her married life in Sault Ste. Marie where she and John raised their family. She especially enjoyed time at their cottage on McCarrel Lake where she spent her summers until she was 91. On John’s retirement they moved to Hanover to be closer to family. In more recent years, she took up golfing, and enjoyed spending time on various courses with friends. She also enjoyed knitting, colouring or doing word search.  She could also often be found watching her favourite sports and teams on TV. Often her favourite sports teams were those of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She attended many games and cheered them on whenever she could. Kaye was a long time, dedicated member of Grace United Church in Hanover, where she enjoyed the fellowship of her church community. She will be missed. 

Loved mother of Lynda (Doug) Legge of Chesley and Gary Macdonald of Victoria, B.C. Proud 'Gramma' of Aaron (Meghan) Legge of Chesley, Bethany (Lee) McMullen of Harriston, and Cory (Courtney) Legge of Listowel, Gregory (Colena Graham) and  Bradley (Divina) Macdonald, both  of Victoria, B.C. and Crystal Macdonald of Brampton and great grandmother ('GGMac") to Brady, Emma, Asher, Sophie, Noah, Isabela, Yazmina,and Kaiya. Fondly remembered by her sister Georgina Williams of Toronto. Predeceased by her husband John 'Jack' Macdonald (1990), son Brian Macdonald, brothers Harold and Don Whitney, sister-in-law Winnie Whitney and bother-in-law Eric Williams. 

Cremation has taken place.  A public visitation will be held at Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover, on March 2, 2024, from 10 am until 10:45 am, where a Memorial Celebration of Life will follow at 11 am. Pastor Jenn Brown officiating. Spring Interment Markdale Cemetery.
