Obituaries

Mary Ann Olga Dunne (nee Shlahetka), formerly of Hanover, passed away peacefully and went home to be with the Lord, at Rockwood Terrace in Durham on Tuesday, February 27, 2024. She was 86. 

Born in Saskatchewan on April 30, 1937 to the late William "Bill" and Nellie (Oleksiuk) Shlahetka. Mary Ann will be remembered for her warm smile as well as known in Hanover for many years as a Hairstylist. She had her own shop for many years and enjoyed her clients very much. She was a devoted and faithful member of Holy Family Church as well as a CWL Member. Her faith was strong and she was resilient through everything. Her warmness could make you feel like family even after only a short time of knowing her. She will be missed. 

Always treasured by her sister Vi (Ernie) Kovacs and brother in law Bob Ahrens both of Hanover. She was a special aunt, who treated her nieces and nephews as their own. Missed by Christopher (Lesia) Ahrens, Cheryl (Gerry) McLean both of Hanover, Karen (Rob) Million of Goderich and Tracy Kovacs of St. Catherines and their families. Survived by step children Dianne (Francis) Gross of Kitchener, Dan (Sue) Dunne of Walkerton, Terry (Gail) Dunne of Listowel and her step grandchildren Lisa (Jay), David (Leanne), Sonja, Thomas (Kayla), Mickayla (Tyson).  Predeceased by her beloved husband John "Jack" Dunne, step son Michael Dunne and her sister Lil Ahrens. 

Family and friends are invited to a Visitation held at Holy Family Church, Hanover on Friday, March 1, 2024 from 9:30am-10:45am. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am. Father Romalito Guillen officiating. Private family Interment in Holy Family Cemetery, Hanover.
